OUR STORY

Megson Farms was founded by Paul and Berva Megson in 2005. The late Paul Megson was an exceptional thoroughbred trainer for nearly 30 years. Paul’s experience and devotion led to the early success of Megson Farms. Through his guidance, his wife, Berva, has continued his legacy along with his daughter, Valerie Rowe Megson.

Valerie has a life time experience, being raised on a Thoroughbred breeding farm. She graduated from the University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and is now the Membership Coordinator for the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) in Lexington, KY.  Berva and Valerie have also studied under the tutelage of master breeder Dalene Knight, of Painted Desert Farms. Dalene was responsible for the isolation and perpetuation of the dominant white gene which has eluded breeders for many years.  She was the leading breeder of white and multi-colored thoroughbreds in the world. Megson Farms acquired its first white thoroughbred from Dalene Knight in 2007. Since then Megson Farms has specialized in the breeding and racing of rare white thoroughbreds. We have grown rapidly in the past decade and are now considered to have the largest herd of white thoroughbred mares in North America.  All multi-colored mares are double registered with the Jockey Club and the American Paint Horse Association.
